Meet Terry Rackley
From Corporate Leadership to Franchise Ownership
Franchising wasn’t something I planned from the beginning.
Like many people exploring business ownership, I arrived there after years of building a career, leading teams, and asking bigger questions about what I wanted life and work to look like long term.
Today, I help individuals explore franchise ownership with honest guidance and real-world experience. I’ve been on both sides of the process; first as someone searching for the right opportunity, and now as someone helping people design their blueprint to freedom. But my journey started long before franchising.
Before franchising, I spent over 20 years in the wireless industry, including 16 years with Verizon in leadership roles. To put this into perspective, I started in wireless during a huge technological shifts in the industry.
The transition from analog to digital, the introduction of color screens on mobile phones, and during the launch of the 1st iPhone!
During that time, I had the opportunity to lead teams, build culture, develop people, and drive performance in a highly competitive environment. It was an incredible training ground for leadership and business.
I loved building teams and helping people succeed. Watching individuals grow into stronger leaders and seeing them accomplish things they didn’t think were possible was always the most rewarding part of the job. But over time, something started to change.
As my career progressed, I found myself switching roles and moving into a new corporate groups. That meant starting over within a different structure and climbing the corporate ladder again.
For the first time in my career, I felt less energized by the work. It wasn’t that I didn’t enjoy leadership anymore, but I realized I wanted something different. I wanted to build something of my own instead of continuing to work inside someone else’s system.
I wanted ownership. I wanted flexibility. I was ready to stop working for other people and start building something for my family. That’s when I started exploring business ownership.
Discovering Franchising
I discovered franchising through a franchise consultant — the same type of advisor I am today. At the time, I didn’t know what I was looking for. I was honestly a little scared about the next chapter in my life. In what was probably a very un-calculated move I volunteered to take a package and leave the wireless industry.
Looking back, finding my consultant was one of the best things that could have happened for that next chapter. It truly changed my family's life.
Going through that process gave me a firsthand understanding of what it feels like to be the person evaluating opportunities. The excitement, uncertainty, research, questions, and eventually… the decision.
That experience is a big part of what shapes how I work with people today.
The Opportunity That Changed Everything
The opportunity that ultimately stood out to me was StretchLab.
This concept was not on our radar. What started as a new venture quickly turned into something much bigger.
I started by opening 3 locations in Texas, learning the business from the ground up; building teams, developing leaders, improving operations, and working through the real challenges that come with ownership.
Over time I developed strategic relationships, found great partners, and expanded the business. Today, we operate over 10 locations across four states.
Moving into franchising opened the door to connections and relationships that I’ve continued to build over the years. Along the way I’ve gained lifelong business partners, great friends, and people I can rely on when needed.
In many ways, it also gave me something I didn’t expect... a huge extended work family.
Franchising gave me an education you simply can’t get from reading about business.
You learn by doing. By leading people, solving problems, and staying committed when things get hard.
What Franchising Made Possible
Franchising didn’t just give me a business. It gave me a different kind of life.
It allowed me to build something meaningful while creating more flexibility and time with my family. It gave us the ability to travel more and enjoy experiences together while still growing a business we believed in.
Our family loves being around water; whether it’s the clear lakes of New Hampshire or the “not-so-clear” lakes of Texas. Our new-found freedom allowed us to travel to places like Croatia, the Amalfi Coast, the Caribbean, and the Gulf Coast.
Those experiences remind me why building the right kind of business matters.
When I look back across every stage of my career, one thing has always been consistent; I’ve always been passionate about helping people grow.
Whether that meant developing employees, mentoring managers, supporting franchise partners, or helping someone evaluate a major life decision, the most fulfilling part has always been the people.
As my experience grew, I started helping other franchise owners and individuals exploring business ownership. Some were trying to determine if franchising was right for them while others were trying to find the right brand or business model.
I realized that helping people navigate this process was something I genuinely loved doing. Because when someone finds the right opportunity, one that aligns with their goals, their life, and their future — it can truly change everything.
